INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC 2021

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Would your child like to learn an instrument in 2021? Lessons are available to any Year 5-7 student for concert band instruments, or to any Year 3-6 student for string instruments. Your child will receive a weekly half an hour instrumental lesson in a small group with a DECD specialist music teacher. This is provided at no cost and during school time. We also have a concert band and a string ensemble.

Learning an instrument is a very rewarding experience, both educationally and emotionally. It develops confidence, coordination and cognitive skills. It can be challenging when beginning to learn, for the child and the parent. However, with some encouragement and regular home practise it will soon become much easier.

We offer String instruments to Year 3-6 students:

  • Violin
  • Cello

We offer Concert Band instruments to Year 5-7 students:

  • Trumpet
  • Trombone
  • Clarinet
  • Flute
  • Alto saxophone
  • Bass guitar
  • Percussion (Drums)

We have some instruments available for hire from the school ($40 per semester), or you are welcome to supply your own. We ask that students commit to learning the instrument for a minimum of one year. Places in Instrumental Music classes are limited, so it is important to apply soon.

Your child may bring home an application form during Week 4 or 5. If they have lost their form, they can ask me for another one in the music room. If you have any other questions about the lessons or music program, please contact me at the school office.
