Hi there! Welcome to Part 3 of The Four Seasons Project!

Part 3 gets you being creative as a response to the music of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons!

Assessment

For Part 3, you will be graded on either your poetry or your paintings which you create as you listen to each of the Four Seasons concertos. So, you will either select Option 1 and write a poem for spring, summer, autumn and winter, or you will select Option 2 and create an artwork for spring, summer, autumn and winter.

Option 1

Vivaldi didn’t just write music for spring, summer, autumn and winter; he also wrote a poem for each season!

  • Have a look at Vivaldi’s poems here. Take it in turns reading each poem out loud to your partner while you are listening to the music.
  • Then, think back to your Four Seasons brainstorm in Part 1, and see if you can write your own poem for each season!
  • Listen to Vivaldi’s music as you write your poems.

Option 2

Vivaldi’s music was inspired by some paintings that he saw by Marco Ricci.

  • Have a look at Marco Ricci’s paintings below. Think about how colour has been used to create the feeling of each season.
  • Then, think back to your Four Seasons brainstorm in Part 1, and see if you can create your own watercolour painting for each season!
  • Listen to Vivaldi’s music as you paint.

I look forward to seeing what you create!
