Part 4 – the final frontier! Well done for making it this far.

Part 4 turns you into a music producer, creating your own music which represents summer, autumn, winter and spring.

Assessment

For Part 4, you will be graded on the piece of music that you create in GarageBand, which has to express to the listener each of the 4 seasons.

Step 1

Choose a MacBook and write down the number in your booklet. This is so that you will always know which one your work is saved on. Also collect a pair of headphones.

Step 2

Open GarageBand and create an Empty Project.

Step 3

Choose which season you would like to begin with. Choose a drum loop that expresses that season for you. Drag it across to a track and make it 8 bars long. Ask Mrs Britton for help if you’re not sure what that means.

Step 4

Choose some other loops which use other instruments. See if they sound good with your drum loop, and keep thinking about if they sound like the season.

Step 5

Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for each season, until you have an 8 bar section for each season.

Step 6

Listen to what you have created. Think about the balance of dynamics (is something too loud or soft?). Keep remixing until you are happy with your piece of music.

Step 7

Show your composition to Mrs Britton, and be ready to explain your project to her!

DON’T FORGET TO SAVE YOUR WORK!
